“Cultural relations between Iran and India are very old and the cultural and lingual roots of commonalities have affected political and economic ties,” said Indian Vice President Mohammad Hamid Ansari on Thursday while receiving Gholamali Haddad Adel in New Delhi.
Mr. Haddad Adel, who also serves as a top advisor to Iran’s Leader, is visiting India to participate at an international three-day conference on Iranian studies which began in the Indian capital on Wednesday. The event is attended by 140 Persian language scholars from Iran, Tajikistan, India and Afghanistan.
The two officials exchanged views, during the two-hour talk, on issues including terrorism and counter-terrorism in Western and Southern Asia, Persian language and its development in the Indian subcontinent, and cultural interactions between the two countries.
